After a long day of meetings in London, and what felt like an even longer journey back home on the trains, let's not talk about trains! I came out the station with an uncontrollable hunger, so decided to go into a restaurant that was opposite the station, The NazRaj Brasserie. I was welcomed by the owner who asked if I wanted to sit at a table. The restaurant was quiet, but I decided to ask for a takeaway meal instead, with a bottle of still water while I waited, instead I was given tap water, with ice.
Isn't the concept of takeaway meals just great? You want something nice to eat, so you take it with you to the comfort of your own home, bliss. I called Ma to find out what had been cooked, she said chicken curry, so I ordered my usual, a Tarka Dhal.
Came home, made myself a couple of chappatis and layed a few heaped spoons of dhaal on the side. Knowing the restaurant was fairly up-market by the deco inside, I asked for my dish to be made spicy in a Bengali style. How I have my dhal everywhere!
The curry was pleasant, though it wasn't spicy enough for my liking. This might be because the chef is usually cooking for a more modest palate. A good meal which hit the spot, but next time, I hope they make it spicier.
